Over the duration of 4 days (September 5-8th, 2023), Kawartha Conservation will be hosting BSI Group Canada Inc. in delivering several ISO-14001 Environmental Management Systems (EMS) courses.  Please see details below for each of the courses being offered and their links to register.

ISO 14001:2015 Requirements (TPECS):September 5th & 6th, 2023

Course Aim

Obtain a detailed understanding of the key terms, definitions and requirements of ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System (EMS) and how the standard can help your organization to better meet its environmental obligations and commitments.

Course Description

Environmental management is no longer a moral choice but a business necessity. Organizations that recognize the benefits of a sustainable model are best positioned to thrive in changing environmental conditions. An ISO 14001:2015 EMS helps you drive sustainable growth, stimulate innovation and gain access to new markets.

Identify the structure and requirements of an effective environmental management system and what this means to you. Gain a thorough understanding of the history and development of ISO 14001:2015, key terms, definitions and the ISO standardized high level structure. You'll learn to interpret and apply the key concepts and principles of the standard to existing processes within your organization.

ISO 14001:2015 Internal Auditor (TPECS): September 5th to September 7th, 2023

Course Aim

Learn how to audit the processes of an ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System (EMS).

Course Description

An effective EMS audit provides a solid framework for meeting customer challenges and realizing benefits such as environmental protection, resource conservation and improved energy efficiency. Optimize your auditing skills in line with the internationally recognized ISO 14001:2015 and boost your internal audit capabilities with the latest developments of the new 19011:2018 standard.

This course develops the necessary skills to assess and report on the conformance and implementation of processes based on ISO 14001:2015. You'll learn how to initiate an audit, prepare and conduct audit activities, compile and distribute audit reports and complete follow-up activities.

How will I benefit?

This course will help you:

  • Prepare, conduct and follow-up on ISO 14001:2015 audit activities
  • Identify and apply the benefits and requirements of an ISO 14001:2015 audit
  • Gain the skills to assess an organization's capability to manage its EMS
  • Apply ISO 19011: 2018 concepts, new terminology and guidelines
  • Understand the types of risks and opportunities associated with auditing

 ISO 14001:2015 Lead Auditor (TPECS): September 5th to September 8th, 2023

Course Aim

Develop the knowledge and skill required to conduct a full audit of an organization's Environmental Management System (EMS) to ISO 14001:2015.

Course Description

Gain the confidence to effectively audit an EMS in accordance with internationally recognized best practice techniques. Demonstrate your commitment to a sustainable model by transforming existing auditor skills to ISO 14001:2015. Consolidate your expertise with the latest developments of the new 19011: 2018 standard and contribute to the continuous improvement of the business.

You'll grasp the key principles and practices of effective EMS audits in accordance with ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 19011: 20018 “Guidelines for auditing management systems”. Using a step-by-step approach, you'll be guided through the entire audit process from initiation to follow-up. Over 8 days, you'll gain the knowledge and skills required to undertake and lead a successful environmental management systems audit.

Learn to describe the purpose of an ISO 14001:2015 EMS audit and how to satisfy third- party certification. Acquire the skills to plan, conduct, report and follow-up an EMS audit that establishes conformity and enhances environmental performance.

  • Grasp the aims, benefits and requirements of an ISO 14001:2015 audit
  • Interpret ISO 14001:2015 requirements for audit application

  • Understand the arrangements for BSI certification.

  • Explain the role of an auditor to plan, conduct, report and follow up an audit in accordance with ISO 19011
  • Gain the skills to plan, conduct, report and follow up an audit in accordance with ISO 19011 (and ISO 17021 where appropriate).
