Invasive Species Awareness: Guided Hike at Ken Reid - This event has already occurred
Event Details:
Join us for a guided hike at Ken Reid Conservation Area focusing on the identification features of invasive species. Led by Forestry and Landowner Services Technician Colleen Cathcart, you'll have the opportunity to learn about the invasive species present in the park and how to identify them.
During the hike, we'll discuss the impact of invasive species on native ecosystems and why it's important to manage and control their spread. Our guide will also highlight some interesting facts, including how some invasive species are edible, but caution against consuming anything found on the ground due to potential adverse reactions.
Colleen will also highlight that no harvesting is permitted within any Conservation Area without a permit and discuss when and how the permit process is necessary.
The cost for this informative experience is $10 per person plus tax. We will be meeting at the Lakeview Parking Lot.
