How much is too much? The process of lake eutrophication - This event has already occurred
Event Details:
We often experience stomach aches when we eat too much; lakes and other waterbodies can share similar experiences.
Eutrophication is when the environment becomes enriched with nutrients. This can be a problem in marine habitats such as lakes as it can cause algal blooms. Some algae even produce toxins that are harmful to higher forms of life. This can cause problems along the food chain and affect any animal that feeds on them.
Join Kawartha Conservation’s Water Quality Specialist, Tanner Liang, on August 12th for another Integrated Watershed Management Speaker Series event to learn more about how tiny algae can impact the whole lake ecosystem.
In this quick 15 minute Lunch & Learn presentation, participants will learn about the eutrophication, the process of it, some consequences, and how we can work together to combat it.
There will be a Question and Answer period at the end.
